Senior SM Engineer SME - 12-FBI11-031

Provide implementation/integration subject matter expertise for the HP Business Technology Optimization (BTO) suite of enterprise management, monitoring, performance measurement, and reporting tools. This individual, preferably educated and/or certified on the HP BTO tool suite, must possess strong interpersonal and project management skills. This individual will be part of the Enterprise Management Systems (EMS) tools team, which provides engineering, implementation support, and systems/network administration for EMS tools in a large and complex environment.  The resource will be required to implement components of the HP BTO suite of tools in multiple domains with different classification levels, the largest of which consists of 900 sites, 8000 network devices, and 600+ servers.  This team has the sole responsibility for ensuring the capability is available to all operational support groups to monitor and maintain all aspects of system, network, application, and security health throughout the enterprise.

This position requires a strong technical background and direct experience with the test, deployment, and configuration of enterprise-class management and monitoring tools in large and complex IT environments. This position requires participation in technical workshops and requirements gathering sessions, and significant direct interaction with end users and customers. It requires proven experience in previous deployments using the HP Software suite of tools. The individual should have the ability to follow a project plan and work with minimal direction. The resource should be able to provide support for knowledge transfer of the configured solution to the client. The resource must possess a strong system management background with a focus on implementation and integration, and be able to author technical documents as part of operational transition.

  • The ideal candidate should possess a technical background with direct experience implementing large software projects in complex IT environments
  • The candidate should have experience throughout the entire IT lifecycle (design, test, deployment, and transition)

    • HP Operations Orchestration (OO)
    • Dell Open Manager
  • Familiarity with other/previous HP products (e.g. HP OpenView tool suite), as well as with other EMS products
  • Strong experience implementing EMS applications in Windows 2008 server environments
  • Ability to install, configure, customize, test and deploy HP EMS tools
  • Ability to work through and overcome obstacles while staying on schedule
  • Ability to work successfully in a complex and large organizational environment, keeping all stakeholders informed and involved
  • Ability to develop and follow project plans and schedules, identifying and communicating potential risks and obstacles early in the process
  • Ability to develop documentation such as Installation and Administration Guides, Operations and Maintenance Guides, etc.
  • Ability to provide effective knowledge transfer to end users and operational support teams, both formally and informally.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and change directions quickly in a dynamic environment
  • An active Top Secret clearance is required, with ability to obtain Strategic Compartmentalized Information (SCI) access
  • Bachelors degree in an engineering or computer science discipline (significant previous relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree)
